Mrs. Robinson, You're Trying to Seduce Me. Aren't you?

I was looking over my poker tracker numbers this evening and it appears I am in the midst of my worst downswing of the year. And honestly I don't really care all that much. I guess I'm just distracted with writing new piano music, developing my curve ball and hanging with good company. I know the bills will easily get paid. It seems the pipe dream of raking in sick piles of money just doesn't make the list as of late. I swear I'll get drunk soon and blog something interesting...

Noteworthy Event

So the movie for which I composed a bit of music for is finally premiering in September. If you are in Atlanta you should come by and get there early because I will be playing a little piano concerto 30 minutes before showtime. Poster:

Blog Review

So I am pretty self aware that my blog has good posts and bad, good months and bad, and good ideas and bad. The new addition of moderating comments is a huge pain in the ass so I am going to go back to the old system. You can hate on me all you want - seriously - the only thing that crosses the line is going beyond me. Things like attacking/insulting my family, friends and gf is way crossing the line and if it happens again I will do my best to track you down, find your IP, figure out where you live and take a dump on your chest.

Nicolak has 15 seconds left to act
Nicolak calls $175 This guy was extremely tight UTG (preflop raise percentage of nine) and folded readily to 3bets (82%), so when he made this call I figured him for a set or an over pair and a tiny chance of big suited hearts [I didn't have the king of hearts].
*** TURN *** [Th 4d 5h] [4c]

gamblegambel bets $400 I feel like my hand is pretty face up here to be a bluff or value betting the over pair.
Nicolak has 15 seconds left to act
Nicolak raises to $1,551, and is all in Unlikely value river raise from a JJ or QQ here. I can beat missed hearts and a wild flop float check back turn to raise river blocking bet. How can I fold?

gamblegambel folds
Uncalled bet of $1,151 returned to Nicolak
Nicolak mucks

gamblegambel calls $176 He seemed to be playing somewhat standard, but he did like protecting and stealing blinds. I think I can play this hand pretty profitably in position in this spot.
*** FLOP *** [4s 7h Tc]
M.a.s.h. .S.p.u.d bets $620 Wasn't sure what to make of this over bet of the pot really. We were too deep for this to be a bait bet and the board was a bit dry.
gamblegambel has 15 seconds left to act
gamblegambel calls $620
*** TURN *** [4s 7h Tc] [7d]
M.a.s.h. .S.p.u.d bets $2,701.70, and is all in
gamblegambel has 15 seconds left to act
gamblegambel has requested TIME Not a nice spot. He most surely has some outs if on the bluff. It really comes down to a feel decision with math foundations. I have to call 1782 to win 3531. I'd guess on average if he is bluffing he has five outs; and on average if he is value betting I have two outs. I am getting roughly 2:1 on my money so I have to think he is bluffing around 40% here to show some profits. I do...
gamblegambel calls $1,782, and is all in
M.a.s.h. .S.p.u.d shows [Kh Qd]
gamblegambel shows [Th Qh]
*** RIVER *** [4s 7h Tc 7d] [Jc]

5am and Not Tired

I have a gambling problem. I have a serious serious gambling problem. I have no self restraint from sitting with the best online players heads up at 25/50nl with my tiny ass bankroll. My game selection is flawed, my tilt control is flawed, and at times I feel as if my whole life is a joke. Luckily there are no cavernous holes around of which I would crawl into and die.

You Can't Do That on Television

So here's the problem... in order to be successful at internet poker the following character traits are nearly imperative: a wildly competitive spirit, fearlessness on the tables and in depth self analysis and critique. Having the said attributes inevitably leads to following chain reaction: borderline decisions --> bad luck --> massive downswings --> demonstrative frustration --> sour demeanor. For three years I have diligently tried to become emotionally detached from the natural variance of the game. If anything I have only regressed. I guess all there is to do is apologize to those around me when poker is pooping on my head.

One in a Million

As a 25 year old college graduate you are supposed to start a career... I play poker instead
As a 25 year old ex-athlete you are supposed to play softball... I play kickball instead
As a 25 year old gamer I should be playing wii... I play NES instead

It has been a personal goal of mine for the past month or so to get over 400k in Tetris...I finally did it in the midst of composing this post. I guess 500k is the next step.

[I know y'all voted for uncensored comments, but due to some comment privilege abuse I can no longer abide.]

The Times They Are A Rapidly Differing

I have no idea what is going on. I recently limited the viewership of this blog to just me for a few reasons...
  • the haters were getting out of control and began to try to hurt others beyond me - not cool
  • for some reason or another I have has a lessened desire to post
  • I think I just like change for the sake of change sometimes
I guess it is this affinity for change that leads me to live this roller coasteresque lifestyle. My gf is probably leaving ATL in a month, but I won't know for sure until just beforehand (unlikely long distance will work there). I win and lose 20% of my bankroll every other day. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in nearly two months, yet I still feel disoriented and ungrounded most nights. I need a haircut.

Haters Eveywhere I Go

{random full tilt table chat}
krock3487 (Observer): gamble, update your blog
gamblegambel: haha
gamblegambel: what do you want me to post
krock3487 (Observer): running bad, obv

Ironically enough I have been running pretty bad the past two weeks and have considered giving up on blogging.

Poll Review...

Presidential Election: I guess I could have predicted that I have a rather liberal reader base. However, it is pretty funny to see that there are 6 Huckabee fans out there - wtf? And yes I still have a two thousand dollar bet that the democrats are going to win even money.

Wedding Bells: This poll was pretty interesting. It seems like most people were really polarized in their opinions. It would have been nice if I could have weighed the answers based on how well people know me. Personally today I'd set the line at 12:5 favorite for marriage before 40.

Self Satisfaction: I sort of had to guess, but I am pretty sure it is 6 for me. Pretty surprised at all the people who voted 0-3 and I am a bit skeptical that so many people really made it to 9 times. I hope there was no permanent damage done out there.

Profits on the Year: Obviously this answer can change from day to day, but as most of you know I don't really care to discuss earning in a public forum. I will say that is it not over 500k and not below 15k as of today.

Let it Ride: Pretty interesting question here I felt. Personally I selected 98%. This poll is so hypothetical because the situation is so unlikely and you never really know the odds. Ultimately for me it comes down to the price of the stress to grind back your roll.

At the moment things are going pretty swimmingly with the gf. She is a super awesome lady and I spend most of my free time with her. The future remains unplanned. Here is a letter I received two days ago from the Vegas girl [I have no intention to reply beyond this blog post]:

"So, in the mornings I work in an real estate office, and being that the market is so dead, I have lotssssss of free time to browse the internet and I found your blog and read the entire thing. CREEPY i know. Minus being referred to as a "random HOE" (which is the way it came off to me), i enjoyed reading it. the way you think of yourself is totally different from the way i saw you. I had fun a whole lot of fun that night. Don't ask me why i was drawn to you i have no idea, but let me tell you, a- being a girl and b- being in vegas, I did not expect to be dissed the way i did. anyways, im sure, by emailing you, i have come off as very stalkerish, devilish whatever but i just wanted to you for no reason really. It is probably a bad idea since im sure you do not hold me in the best of light among plenty other reasons. Well, i attached some pictures from vegas, including one awkward action shot, where i think my hair looks great :) . You can look or not, respond to me or not, its all good, i promise. Ok. Happy Wednesday! -Kristina"
