A pretty interesting hand from a heads up cap battle. A general rule of thumb for optimal poker strategy is to not change game plans mid hand i.e. turn a value call into a bluff on a later street. The following is what I would consider a rare exception.

Seat 2: gamblegambel ( $9826.75 )
Seat 5: bemyguestbd ( $6192.00 )
bemyguestud posts small blind [$25.00].
gamblegambel posts big blind [$50.00].
** Dealing down cards **
Dealt to gamblegambel [ 7c Js ]
bemyguesbud raises [$75.00]
gamblegambel calls [$50.00]
** Dealing Flop ** [ 5h, 7s, Ah ]
gamblegambel checks
bemygustbud bets [$135.00]
gamblegambel calls [$135.00] A seven figures to be good here.
** Dealing Turn ** [ Qd ]
gamblegambel checks
bemguestbud bets [$375.00]
gamblegambel calls [$375.00] This is a marginal call, I'd probably vote fold 70% of the time.
** Dealing River ** [ 4h ]
gamblegambel bets [$890.00] The four of hearts is pretty much the money draw card. Considering I reraise most big aces pre and fold most sevens on the turn this card drills my double check call range and is a great bluff card despite the general rule of thumb that changing value calls into bluffs is a bad play. There is some value to check/deciding, but I believe this bluff is much better.
bmyguestbud folds
gamblegambel wins $1219.50 from main pot

Other Things

Sometimes for no apparent reason I become grossly mopey. I have barely left my condo in the past two weeks. I've hardly gambled at all lately. I nearly take pleasure in causing discomfort to those around me. Usually I would expect myself to be depressed and looking for a change of pace, but these days I wouldn't want it any other way. I do believe I may just be a hyper-introvert in waves. Maybe I have a serious mental disorder. Maybe surly only looks out for one guy, surly.

I wasn't meant for this world. Turning off my brain is quite the cumbersome and lengthy process and can prove quite difficult when trying to fall asleep. I usually have to be awake for 17 hour plus before I see the sandman. Combine this with a lust for long night sleeps and no need for an alarm clock you have the recipe for my conundrum. I think I would be a much happier man if the world spun a tad slower; twenty seven hour days for the win.

New Ideas

Full Tilt has recently added a run it twice option to its cash game tables. It's a pretty cool feature but it takes an extra dollar of rake. What the fuck??? Just because we're degenerates doesn't mean we're a bunch of saps. I suggest poker players form a union in case we need to strike if things get ridiculously out of hand; power in numbers. With a large enough strike we might even get health insurance.

Things I Think

One of the better benefits of having a gf is while walking around town you can hold her hand and not have to look where you are going allowing full attention to your iPhone.

You should be able to veto a few things that your income tax can't go to fund (i.e. Iraq war, welfare, catholic church...).

Many people are unfaithful. Many women are beautiful. Maybe Arab culture is on to something with the abaya and the niqāb.

There isn't too much you can really do to leave your mark on this world. Yesterday I made my first dent. I beat Battletoads (with no warps or Game Genie). It's presence atop every top ten hardest video game list puts me in pretty elite company to be honest. I wish I could package up and bottle up what I've got, but alas I must be content solely with personal glory.
