Life

I'm on a pretty ugly downswing here. I am starting to lose confidence in my game and life choices. I've always been extremely confident that I am an intelligent person; particularly when it comes to problem solving and gaming I feel there is nearly no intellectual barrier I can't overcome. But lately I constantly feel like I am being outsmarted by the regulars in the game. My ego is involved and it is dwindling. Sometimes I wonder if my mind is wasted on poker. I am no doubt a lazy man. Poker should be a perfect fit for my personality when you look at everything on paper. I might just be too emotional about the game to play it at a higher level. I guess I'm just confused about a variety of issues. All I do know is I am on an ugly downswing here.

Maybe you just need a coach for a little while or need to talk over your tough hands with other players and get some opinions about your play.

i played professionally for 3 years, money was good but got burned out big time from the rollercoaster financially and emotionally.

after giving up poker i've found my way in financial services, esp w/ the downturn of the economy idiots will always love to give their money away and this job is a lot easier than poker

Lose the ego = lose the stress and emotions.

Why play so high? 3 or 4 years ago if someone told you $50-$100/hour was easily done playing poker you would have had trouble believing them....

I rarely even sit at a 10/20 table these days and I'm still making better money than any of my old high school buddies.
