Jobs I Might Hate Less

I am entertaining the idea of leaving my life as a professional gambler for the following...

Struggling artist (possibly in Paris) - I enjoy being creative and poor.

International thief - I'm already a closet klepto and have a ton of frequent flier miles.

Professional blogger - Not really sure what to charge; ten cents a page load?

Town crier - Does this still exist anywhere?

High school guidance counselor - Might finally get me off perma-tilt.

Ping!

I'd like to start this post with a simple chart:

1 1/2 50%
2 1/4 25%
3 1/8 12.5%
4 1/16 6.25%
5 1/32 3.125%
6 1/64 1.5625%
7 1/128 0.78125%
8 1/256 0.390625
9 1/512 0.1953125%
10 1/1024 0.09765625%

and so on...

Now I'd like to pose a question at this point: How many coin flips do you have to lose in a row before you start to tilt; 3? 6? 9? Never? I don't know about y'all, but if I start off a session and lose 5 flips I'm pissed; no question about it. Now what pisses me off even than losing 5 coin flips in a row is the fact that this pisses me off in the first place. I gamble for a living. It is ridiculous that a 3.125% chance should upset me that much. And now with the increasing popularity of short handed poker the frequency of the flip is only going to increase. I guess my point is - I hate my job.

A Seemingly Useless Analogy

If Street Fighter II characters were gears of tournament poker...

Dhalsim would be first gear. About as unaggressive and weak as they come. In battle you will find yourself becoming best friends with the fold button. In the rare instance that you actually do get an attack off, your opponent will probably have too many chips for it to matter. There's a reason no one ever picks this guy.

Second gear is a fitting match for Guile. Finally someone with at least two decent moves, but there is only so much that awkward kick and his boomerang shooting thing can do. You might pick up a pot here and there, but most likely you will find yourself sitting back in the bleachers.

Ryu is the perfect third gear; the full package really. Patient yet aggressive. Has plenty of useful moves, but picks his spots. A popular choice amongst everyone. He takes time to learn, but master him properly and domination is inevitable. Note: Ryu is Japanese, which really isn't crasian (Vietnamese, Chinese, et al.)

Leave it to the American to out aggress the Japanesse, as fourth gear falls in love with Balrog (is that really and American name?). This guy can throw a punch, and another, and another, and another. There aren't too many hands out there that he doesn't like.
