Things I Have Been Thinking

  • Long distance relationships are nearly impossible.
  • Yes I make enough money playing poker to get by... do non gamblers not see how this is a rude question to ask someone you just met?
  • New Years Eve is definitely my favorite holiday and planing/hosting a party is quite the pleasurable experience. This recent break up will damper both my attendance and guy:girl ratio; a potential sausage fest is one of my greatest fears.
  • There is a lot of useful information in books and on the internet.
  • It seems to take around 15% (or more) of the time you were in a serious relationship to grieve afterwards before you can healthily connect on an emotional level with a different woman.
  • Comments are the lifeblood of the blogging industry.
  • Meeting new people after college whist working at home is daunting.
  • Sometimes when I am at my lowest emotional states and don't feel like going on anymore its the far chance of catching that runner runner that I would someday get back together with my ex that keeps me going.

Do not fear a sausage fest!

I believe it shows greater strength to admit your weaknesses rather than hide them. No one is immune to pain and grief. She probably does read all of this #*&% and if she or anyone else would look down at someone for honesty and openness than I probably wouldn't want to be close with anyone like that. "Head up high" guys are the same people that have to tell everyone at the bar how much money they are making.

I think that in a breakup, it's not pitiful but completely normal to reevaluate yourself, think about what went wrong in the relationship with your ex, and have those thoughts running through your mind for weeks or even months after the event. Breakups can literally be life-changing experiences. But I feel that, as cliché as it sounds, everything happens for a reason, especially breakups.

You will likely find yourself in a better place in the near future and realize that this breakup, as difficult as it was, was a big part in getting you to that better place.

But it IS rough at the time... as Joel said, when someone that knows you better than anyone else says they don't want you in their life anymore, it's rough.... and I think it takes a lot of guts to express exactly how he's feeling in a public setting like this.

PS. People who hold their head up like a man don't post anonymously.

The best way to get over loosing an old dog is to get a new dog. Do it. Your ex will soon be a distant memory.
