"He's first to act and is representing the king. it would be stupid for gamble to stay in if he didn't have a k (which matusow has good odds that he doesn't)" -david
Let's take a better look at this hand. First what is my raising range from small blind. Since it is mike and I know he gambles a tad thin, I will raise a littler tighter here/mostly for value - probably only top 14.8% of hands, which is:
55+, A7s+, K9s+, QJs+, A9o+, KJo+, QTs
Now when mike shoves he is risking 800 to win 475. So his EV in the hand is his fold equity times the pot at the time (475) minus when I call (1 - fold equity) times (800 -his equity against my calling range times total pot (1900)). So let's look at my calling range (I am calling 675 to win 1275 - just under 2:1)
When I call:
My range will be: KK, JJ, 55, AA, AK, AJ, K9s+,KJo+, Ad7d+ - 7.9% of known hands
So his fold equity is (14.8-7.9)/14.8 = 6.9/14.8 = 46.62% of the time I will fold and he will pick up the pot.
.4662 * 475 = 221.45 dollars positive equity
Now for when I call (53.38%)...
He will lose the 800 minus his equity in the pot against my calling range. Using poker stove I can see that 7s8h against my calling range is 6.48%. So 800 - (.0648 * 1900) = 676.88
.5338 * 676.88 = 361.32 dollars negative equity
221.45 - 361.32 = -139.87
Total equity in his shove = negative 139.87 dollars
So it was not a good play and he gave away 140 dollars in free money.

The Fight Against Online Poker Injuries
It is the most essential item. It really does help support and minimize strain on the wrist. A must have if I ever want to recover and put in any serious hours.

I read this from a site that some commenter left a link to. It really does help to have your screen at eye level. I have less aches in my shoulders/traps and it promotes better posture.

I bought this at office depot a while back. It is supposed to help out with wrist pains from excessive mouse use. It blows harder than the prevailing winds. I only gave it some point because the name reminds me of the NES power glove.

Pretty nifty device. It's a wireless mouse that moves via motion censor - similar to a wii controller. Tricky if you are playing 6+ tables, but serves as a nice break from an awkward standard mouse during down times.

For years I've over looked the importance of a nice desk chair. This baby has everything: mesh material to prevent an overly toasty bum/lower back, nearly everything is adjustable, and it swivels/is set on wheels. I am still an 8 year old sometimes. In between hands I roll across my condo and do 360s.
Natalie is my new gel enhanced mouse pad. Provides seductive wrist support and hours of entertainment.

Thanks everyone for all the insightful and helpful advice.

I once read an article back in high school by a world class body building in which he talked about his focus in the weight room. There was one quote in particular that really stuck with me. He said that while he was working out he would concentrate so hard that a plane could crash on the other side of the gym and he wouldn't even notice. I feel this is the same focus I need to bring the poker tables every day.

Wanna Walk in My Shoes You Need Ten Socks
Lately I have been more prone to tilt than usual. It is in times like these that it is important to make sure the rest of one's life is in order. I suspect a few factors are the culprit:- minimal social life - I have a propensity towards being a loner, but I do enjoy good company from time to time
- synergism - a bunch of tiny things seemly going wrong and getting blown out of proportion: office chair out of stock, running cold for a couple weeks, not going on trips, ugly weather etc.
- lack of girlfriend/dating life - I am getting old (25 in two weeks), I am a nerd and my lady skills are only regressing
- physical dilapidation - my stomach, my wrist, my hair

Day Off?
I felt like today would be a rather optimal day to take a break from poker. With sore wrists and edging on burnout, a small hiatus felt right. I went to lunch with my mother right after I woke up, which was delightful. I spent most of the afternoon at the rock climbing gym, which is my new favorite exercise. I went to Simpsons trivia at a local pizza joint with some newish friends, which was a rare social outing for me as of late. All in all a quite pleasant day. Oh yeah. And I played 1500 hands of poker online. YTD: 90k hands.

Potentially Obtainable
When I set my goal for the year to do a million hands I knew it wasn't going to be a walk in the park. I predicted a few roadblocks: burnout, boredom, even the long shot of getting a girlfriend, but I overlooked what is now my biggest concern - physical restrictions. My wrist was in searing pain all day and I fear the worst. I still have some hope. YTD: 80k hands
