One in a Million

As a 25 year old college graduate you are supposed to start a career... I play poker instead
As a 25 year old ex-athlete you are supposed to play softball... I play kickball instead
As a 25 year old gamer I should be playing wii... I play NES instead

It has been a personal goal of mine for the past month or so to get over 400k in Tetris...I finally did it in the midst of composing this post. I guess 500k is the next step.

[I know y'all voted for uncensored comments, but due to some comment privilege abuse I can no longer abide.]

The Times They Are A Rapidly Differing

I have no idea what is going on. I recently limited the viewership of this blog to just me for a few reasons...
  • the haters were getting out of control and began to try to hurt others beyond me - not cool
  • for some reason or another I have has a lessened desire to post
  • I think I just like change for the sake of change sometimes
I guess it is this affinity for change that leads me to live this roller coasteresque lifestyle. My gf is probably leaving ATL in a month, but I won't know for sure until just beforehand (unlikely long distance will work there). I win and lose 20% of my bankroll every other day. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in nearly two months, yet I still feel disoriented and ungrounded most nights. I need a haircut.

krock3487 (Observer): gamble, update your blog

gamblegambel: haha
gamblegambel: what do you want me to post
about?
krock3487 (Observer): running bad, obv

Ironically enough I have been running pretty bad the past two weeks and have considered giving up on blogging.

Poll Review...

Presidential Election: I guess I could have predicted that I have a rather liberal reader base. However, it is pretty funny to see that there are 6 Huckabee fans out there - wtf? And yes I still have a two thousand dollar bet that the democrats are going to win even money.

Wedding Bells: This poll was pretty interesting. It seems like most people were really polarized in their opinions. It would have been nice if I could have weighed the answers based on how well people know me. Personally today I'd set the line at 12:5 favorite for marriage before 40.

Self Satisfaction: I sort of had to guess, but I am pretty sure it is 6 for me. Pretty surprised at all the people who voted 0-3 and I am a bit skeptical that so many people really made it to 9 times. I hope there was no permanent damage done out there.

Profits on the Year: Obviously this answer can change from day to day, but as most of you know I don't really care to discuss earning in a public forum. I will say that is it not over 500k and not below 15k as of today.

Let it Ride: Pretty interesting question here I felt. Personally I selected 98%. This poll is so hypothetical because the situation is so unlikely and you never really know the odds. Ultimately for me it comes down to the price of the stress to grind back your roll.

At the moment things are going pretty swimmingly with the gf. She is a super awesome lady and I spend most of my free time with her. The future remains unplanned. Here is a letter I received two days ago from the Vegas girl [I have no intention to reply beyond this blog post]:

"So, in the mornings I work in an real estate office, and being that the market is so dead, I have lotssssss of free time to browse the internet and I found your blog and read the entire thing. CREEPY i know. Minus being referred to as a "random HOE" (which is the way it came off to me), i enjoyed reading it. the way you think of yourself is totally different from the way i saw you. I had fun a whole lot of fun that night. Don't ask me why i was drawn to you i have no idea, but let me tell you, a- being a girl and b- being in vegas, I did not expect to be dissed the way i did. anyways, im sure, by emailing you, i have come off as very stalkerish, devilish whatever but i just wanted to you for no reason really. It is probably a bad idea since im sure you do not hold me in the best of light among plenty other reasons. Well, i attached some pictures from vegas, including one awkward action shot, where i think my hair looks great :) . You can look or not, respond to me or not, its all good, i promise. Ok. Happy Wednesday! -Kristina"

You Know What It Is

It seems like most of my poker friends have hit the point in their gambling careers where they are beginning to cut way down on the hours they play and their passion to play online cash games. Whereas my adoration may not currently be at a peak, I still see poker hands when I close my eyes, I still dream about poker at night, and I still have an enormous drive to hit the tables. Maybe I feel as if I still have something to prove, or maybe I just enjoy the game a freakish amount, or maybe all this thought about retirement funds lately has motivated me. Anyway I look at it I feel a little sad; it's like being the kid in middle school who is still all excited about mastering Magic: The Gathering while everyone else has moved on to playing Nintendo 64.

Started out Hustling Ended up Balling

Undoubtedly the lowest point in my short lived career as a professional gambler came in the fall of 2007. At that point I had blown through 90% of my bankroll in just over a year and was forced to grind out 1/2NL (without having a grossly high risk of ruin). Thanks to a backing deal with 22/7 and some big hours and good fortune I was back to playing 10/20nl (albeit short stacking) with my own money again within a matter of a few months. This is pretty much unheard of without a monster tourney score or wild bankroll management. Since my return to the bigger games, it has been a roller coaster and a half. I've gone in and out of terrible game selection, sloppy bankroll management, and nonexistent tilt control. This evening I was again challenged with a tough decision. At 25/50nl on Poker Stars there was the biggest fish I've seen since sefat53 was going all in every other hand the day party poker died. The last thing I could afford to do right now is blow through 20k gambling with maniacs at big games after a shitty WSOP, but I couldn't live with myself as a gambler to sit idly by and short stack this game...

In Decatur

I have been home for less than 12 hours and already everything seems to be coming together nicely. Poker is getting back on track, home cooked meals with me lady, and peace and quiet in the domicile. I decided not to play the wsop main event for the first time in my career as a poker player. I have a feeling everything is going to work out swimmingly.
